Our Story
My name is John Apiata, 20 years experience in the building and construction industry. My wife Victoria Apiata has a background in accounts and finance and together we created Premium Building Services.
We are very blessed to have 4 beautiful children. Our children are our everything and like most families they are what drive and motivates us to succeed.
We started PBS in 2015 after we returned home from living in the Gold Coast, Australia. While we lived in Australia something changed for us and our mindsets shifted. We wanted to create new beginnings and become our own boss.
We have now been in operation for over 8 years.
We have worked hard to create a team that is close, honest and reliable. We are proud of our team and what they have achieved. We have been lucky enough to support 3 of our team members gain full qualifications and several have gone on to start their own Company.
Building or renovating can be a very stressfull process, Let us take that stress from you, so you enjoy the experience.
Our work history includes working closely with groups and associations like Waikato Tainui, Tainui Group Holdings, Te Puni Kokiri, Amotai and also some major developers and building companies.
We have been lucky enough to work with many Whanau/family on personal projects. Most recently we had the previledge of completing a Papakainga project for our own whanau, something we are extremely proud of.
We have recently made developments in the minor dwelling space and created AdDwell, a partner company to Premium Building to help fill the void of over crowded housing and affordable housing options.
Our journey has blossomed into an ambition to create change in the residential trades industry by qualifying and growing Maori entrepreneurs, to one day walk in our shoes and give back to the community.

Heta Apiata, Operations Manager
Heta has vast experience in all areas of the construction industry. Recently returning from an extended stint in Perth Australia, he has gained expert knowledge around co ordinating teams and liaising with clients to ensure projects are run smoothly.
Heta will be a key contact to each and every project we operate.
Tonga White, Qualified Carpenter
Tonga (Ray) has been with premium building for almost 6 years and has gained great knowledge around residential housing and renovations. Tonga really prides himself with the minor details. No stone unturned when he's on the job.
Tonga also represents himself well in Waka Ama and has earned himself the nickname "The Great White" for his strong reputation in competing in national and international fields.
Maiori Apiata, Qualified Builder.
Maiori is the eldest of us 3 brothers, He also has extensive knowledge within the construction industry. Maori has a reputation for always being the hardest worker on site. If he's on the job, you can almost guarantee it will be done well before the deadline.
Maori demands excellence from the crew and ensures deadlines are met while maintaining a high level of workmanship.
Jordan Cotter, Qualified Builder
Jordan has been with premium building since the beginning. He has great communication skills and has grown to be a great leader within our team. You will find Jordan essentially running our projects on his own. He is able to co ordinate our team to ensure projects are run efficiently while maintaining great communication with other trades and clients.
We are grateful that Jordan was able to complete his apprenticeship and wish him the brightest future for him and his family.
