River Rd Papakainga Project
Our whānau trust congratulates Premium Building Services (PBS) and express our deep appreciation for an amazing job well done with our papakāinga project. A 10 year dream of planning and negotiation finally come true thanks to John, his team and tradies skills and drive. Key to the success of our project was building relationships of the constituent parts. Thats the funders, the builder, the whānau and compliance agents. A whānau highlight was working together to strip the walls of the whānau homestead ready for refurbishment.
PBS leadership was critical to the relationship by constant engagement either together, mostly by zoom, or just being available. Our biggest challenge was price increases, product availability during Covid and whānau trust expectations beyond the contract in the end part of the lesson’s learnt during the build process. A building project has to be delivered professionally according to the plan to be a great success but it also involves people trusting and valuing each other and having fun together.
Our whānau has great pride in our papakāinga project, our dream made into reality by PBS and its team.

I am writing this testimony to commend and express my profound satisfaction with the unparalleled work done by Premium Building, directed by John Apiata. The team’s expertise and professionalism in renovating and
extending our home were nothing short of exceptional.
From the onset, John’s wealth of experience was clearly evident. He approached our project with a high level of professionalism and showed an in-depth understanding of our unique needs and expectations. His ability to answer tough questions about our home with confidence was truly reassuring. John and Vic Apiata, the dynamic duo, and the entire team were always approachable, making the decision-making process much easier for us. We were particularly impressed by the team’s consideration during construction. Even while we shared our home with others, the builders - Jordan Cotter and Tonga White - worked hard and respected our space, ensuring minimal disruptions.
Our home is now a warm, cosy sanctuary that we can’t wait to share with friends and whanau in the summer. Each corner of the house is a testament to Premium Building’s impeccable workmanship and attention to detail. And our new addition to the family, a 3-month-old baby, has been enjoying the
home as well, with no health issues to date!
This home is not just a house to us; it’s a legacy. Much like my parents,I now own a home in my hometown, an area deeply rooted in our ancestry. It’s a joy to share this piece of history with my children, and hopefully, they’ll also continue this tradition.
We are deeply grateful to Premium Building - John and Vic Apiata, and Heta Apiata as the project manager. The on-site builders Jordan Cotter and Tonga White, also deserve special mention for their hard work and dedication.
In conclusion, it was a pleasure to have Premium Building work on our home. Their professionalism, dedication, and quality of work exceeded our expectations. We wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking a reliable, experienced, and professional building team.
